In an exciting moment of our quest to bring you law enforcement trade-in firearms, we have secured a batch of Smith & Wesson M&P45 M2.0 handguns. Breaking away from the more common police calibers, it’s not every day that you run into law enforcement agencies rocking .45 ACP

That said, it is the all-American, back-to-back World War champs, power-packing “man’s man” kind of cartridge. In all seriousness, it is a great, classic caliber that packs a punch in a modern platform.

The Design

The M&P (Military and Police) series from Smith & Wesson is centered on building reliable, modern, striker-fired, polymer-framed handguns that can withstand the hardships of duty service. This M&P45 M2.0 is a full-sized duty handgun with a standard 10-round magazine capacity.

The polymer frame of the handgun features the aggressive M2.0 grip texturing, which allows for a solid grip purchase regardless of weather conditions. These handguns have seen some grip wear, and in my opinion are worn to the perfect level, as I feel the M2.0 is a little too aggressive.

Especially if the brand-new texturing feels a bit aggressive to you, the M2.0 grip texturing on these guns is worn just enough to be comfortable.

These guns have three-dot white night sights, although the tritium is nearly done on most of them.

This model does not feature an external safety and relies on the M&P hinged trigger safety. The handgun also features a three-dot night sight set of irons, but the tritium is pretty much spent on most of the models. This set of handguns includes two 10-round magazines and a hard case.

A Good Value

Law enforcement trade-in firearms offer a solid and reliable option at a great price. Trade-ins normally have a good bit of life left in them, as most of the wear is cosmetic. Due to riding in a holster, running drills, and being exposed to the elements, there are wear and tear marks in the finish of the slide and worn spots on the polymer.

...but other than some cosmetic blemishes, these guns are in excellent condition.

On the flip side, trade-in firearms are rarely shot excessively. Outside of annual qualification shoots and the occasional training session, the shooting components are usually not pushed very hard.

Firearms are tools, and having a firearm with a little wear and tear should give you the confidence to not treat it like a baby, but to hit the range and train hard. After all, that is the most important part of firearm ownership. Regardless which model you choose, it’s pointless to have if you don’t put in the work. So, save some money and grab a trade-in. Then you can use those savings to get some ammo, hit the range, and master the craft.
