First debuted in January at SHOT Show in an all-black format, the slim hammer-fired M&P 5.7 is the company's first production pistol chambered in high-velocity, flat-shooting centerfire 5.7 NATO. Keeping it svelte and trim via a polymer frame, there's a 5-inch barrel featuring Smith's patented rotary-locked new Tempo barrel system – a lock-breech two-part barrel with a proprietary gas system – and the M&P 5.7 uses flush-fitting magazines with a standard 22+1 round capacity.
As with the standard M&P 5.7, the two-tone variant features front slide serrations, lightening cuts, and a 5-inch barrel with 1/2x28 thread for mounting a muzzle device or suppressor. (Photo: S&W)
The new S&W M&P 5.7 is fully ambidextrous with mirrored controls and a reversible mag release. The frame features a full-size grip with enhanced texturing. The slide ships with three-dot white sights as well as an optics cut and is available with or without a thumb safety. (Photo: S&W)
Weight is just 26.7 ounces, while overall length is a very 1911-ish 8.5 inches due to its extended 5-inch barrel. The width is a slim 1.1 inches. (Photo: S&W)
The MSRP on the two-toned S&W M&P 5.7 is $719, which is $20 more than the standard all-black model, and the pistol is currently shipping.
