Wyoming-based Weatherby has a new SxS on the market that includes all the classic features such as an oil-finished straight English-style walnut stock and double mechanical triggers.

The new Orion SxS double sports twin 28-inch barrels featuring a low swamp rib and brass bead. They accept Yildiz pattern extended choke tubes and ship with five sizes – Improved Modified, Improved Cylinder, Modified, Full, and Skeet. The stacked double triggers are housed in a traditional long tang style trigger guard. Full specs aren't available at time of publication, but Weatherby says these imports hit the scales starting at 6.2 pounds, making them light enough for fast-moving upland work.

The front trigger fires the right barrel, and the rear trigger fires the left barrel. Note the ergonomically placed ambidextrous tang safety for quick transitions from the safe position to the fire position and the dual lifters – not extractors – which allow easy shell retrieval.

The Orion name is a familiar one for Weatherby, being used across the past 35 years for a rotating series of double OAU and SxS field and sporting grade shotguns made by firms in Italy (by Fausti) and Spain (by Abolla) among others.
